CAre and connect

I first connected with Kevin through LinkedIn in November 2017. I was reaching out to members of the community looking for support around a charity I was hoping to establish to fund less fortunate people to visit their terminally ill family members. Kevin’s response: “Happy to support if I can. Please send to…..”. I was surprised and delighted. The start of our journey.
 

When I met with Kevin I was keen to update him on my progressive networking and community connections and discuss ideas gained through voluntary work to see how I could somehow help others and pay it forward. One of my ideas I shared. To form a “connection army” to help lessen isolation and vulnerability for our community members. Kevin supported this idea from day one. I also shared that “grief” was the now the defining subject around my work. I shared with Kevin the 5 stages of grief; a subject very real and evident in our community (everywhere across the globe) for people of all ages and stages.
 

I reached a point where I began to question my ongoing commitment to this voluntary work, lacking direction. Kevin from day one recognized my passion, potential and desire to help others. He demonstrated that by saying “I’ll support by helping connect you with great, ethical businesses and leaders. What do you want to do?”. Overwhelmed and shocked, I had no idea. Kevin came back with a suggestion. We wanted to have an opportunity to raise mental health awareness amongst businesses and employees. I had always wanted to do this, since my first trip to NZ as a back packer aged 23. Here was a chance to be paid to deliver work to help people. What a huge privilege and rewarding challenge within  some of the major NZ tourism operators.
 

In October 2018 I began to deliver a wellbeing program to various teams and now have a 3 year business plan to develop the program, rolling out at local, regional and national level. With support from QLDC,  Queenstown Medical Centre, the HRINZ and many other organisations around my WELLBEING WORKSHOPS and/or CONNECTION ARMY work.  I’m now delivering suitable educational platforms to enhance people’s health and happiness and overall social sustainability within our community.  It’s like a dream job!  Kevin helped me find my purpose.
 

In summary, Kevin Sharpe helped me to find the confidence I needed to grow and flourish. With the right gentle guidance Kevin helped me find my path and drive my passion to help others. He is a humble, kind and generous family man and he has a special way with people. He refers to the “head and heart“ in HR terms and quite clearly lives by these values.
 

Stealing his expression……...Kevin is “a good egg”. I wish him every success in helping others moving forward, just like he has me. His vast business experience and pragmatic brain, coupled with his strong sense of community is absolute gold. He will undoubtedly help others move forward, learn and grow in the right direction. He’ll help you break down into bite size pieces how to best approach and tackle challenges effectively to achieve your main goal.
